Al Shux

Alexander William Shuckburgh (born 1982)[1] is a music producer and songwriter known for producing the song "Empire State of Mind". He is also credited as Alexander Shuckburgh, Al Shuckburgh, Al Shux, or Shux.[2]

Shuckburgh graduated from the University of Westminster with a B.A. in Commercial Music in 2004.[3] Since then he has worked with Lupe Fiasco, Sway, Alesha Dixon, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, and travelled across America as Lily Allen's musical director.[3] He has written and produced for UK artists such as Coco Sumner, Tinie Tempah, Cheryl Cole, and Eliza Doolittle, as well as writing for various artists in the US.[3]

Shuckburgh received a Grammy Award in February 2011 for producing and co-writing "Empire State of Mind", which won in the Best Rap Song category.[4][5][6] In July 2011, he signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG Chrysalis UK.[7]

He is a grandson of Sir Evelyn Shuckburgh (1909–1994), a British diplomat.[8]
